Firefox is a web browser and not a search engine, or a website or homepage.
The only default homepage Firefox has since Firefox 4.0 is about:home

Hi luigi45, Firefox has a built-in home page you can use. I think you just need to delete your currently set home page address, and then Firefox will display the built-in page. Could you give that a try? This article should have the steps to get you to that part of the Options page: How to set the home page.
Now... Google is still going to promote itself at every opportunity. When you "X" off those little overlays, Google should set a cookies so that it doesn't nag you again. But if you clear cookies often, Google will not realize you are tired of the nagging and will do it again. Users have come up with a number of ways to hide the overlays, panels, and bars using add-ons or custom style rules.
I'm not sure of the latest recommended techniques, but you could check out this older thread for some ideas: How do I remove the "Get to Google faster. Switch you default search enging to Google" bar at the top of Firefox?
