Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Hi, thank you for reply Further to my question. As I was facing problem I re-installed the Browser then add few Add-ons.

Now reply to your answer: In the safe mode I opened five-six tabs though on websites there were adds but worked better than before.

I have already tried acceleration checked and unchecked but problem remained same.

When I re-installed the browser it got set to default theme.

Disable all extension, yes, in the safe mode worked better.

After re-installing browser I got updated extensions.

Extension settings, I have re-checked.

Conclusion: it seems browser working fine in Safe Mode therefore, I got to check Add-on one by one to find out which one is the culprit.

I will check and post the result sooner, until then thank you.

Hi, thank you for reply. I will check as you have mentioned then report back.

PS. The Crash report I did not submit to Firefox. Does this means by default the crash report will be submitted it self. I remembered in past in case of crash a window appeared with option with submit button.

The crash reporter will try once to submit the report. If that fails, then the user must send it manually by clicking on it. Please post it when you submit it.
