When I click on the drop down button next to the URL entry bar is show the following

"Get Your Content Discovered On Our Marketing Platform | Outbrain - www.outbrain.com"

What is this? Where did it come from? (This is a vanilla install of Windows and a vanilla install of Firefox just downloaded) How can I completely remove it?

Bizarre. If you open the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+h or "Show All History"), are there any visits to Outbrain? You can use the search box at the upper right to filter the list.

If it's not in history, or if removing it from history does not remove it from the drop-down, check for a rogue extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable (or if obviously junk, remove).

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

Hi,

Yes looks like it was a rogue extension.
