Why does my ":Sent" folder display 2 or 3 sent messages whenever I reply or send an email?

When I send a message, the "sent" folder shows the message as having been sent 2 or 3 times.

According to this: http://ccm.net/faq/11357-how-to-prevent-outlook-com-from-saving-sent-messages it saves a copy of sent messages automatically. So in that respect it's like Gmail.

Is this an imap gmail account ?

If yes, then please read info here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78892?hl=en click on the Thunderbird drop down section to see relevant info.

It is possible that you have selected the option to save sent emails in Sent folder. However, gmail does this by default and so would explain why you have more than one copy.
