Are you trying to run the file from Firefox, or the file browser?

Flash Player Version Version: 20.0.0.306

Note: Windows users should download the ‘’’active_x’’’ for “Internet Explorer,” and the ‘’’plugin’’’ for “Plugin-based browsers” (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the ’’’plugin’’’ only. Not the ’’’active_x’’’.

Hi FredMcD

Thanks for the quick reply. As I said in the OP I'm runing the machine on windows vista not 8 or 10 so I don't think that's the issue, also all my drivers are up to date.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to describe when you say "run the file from Firefox, or the file browser?" so I'll run through what I've been doing.

1. Go to adobe website and select flash.

2. Select the correct version for my computer and download.

3. Click on the download icon in the firefox tool bar and click on the adobe flash file, nothing happens.

4. Open the firefox library and select downloads, click on the adobe flash file. This time I get the "open execatable file?" message pop up, I click on OK the message disappears and again nothing happens.

I hope the extra information is of some use thought I'm still trying to figure out if this problem is with firefox itself or some kind of comflict with windows.

And while I remember I should mention that I'm having this trouble with ALL the files I've tried to download, I just mentioned flash in the first post as that has been causing me the most problems on the internet.

Again thanks for your help.
