38.5.1 User interface hangs trying to access InBox; can compact InBox and receive messages

more options

Problem occurred immediately after version update. Mail store located on network drive. Seems okay with dummy mail store on local drive. Happens on all my systems

Network drive seems fine.

Oddly, the compact option works, and I get notifications about received e-mails (but cannot access them) I just see the "Email, Accounts and Advanced Features panel". Other folders work okay.

Chosen solution

Yikes - after at least a dozen fails (including rebooting everything imaginable) it started working again. Nothing I did brought it back. No explanation.
