What is the setting so Thunderbird to quit looking for emails from a closed account but leave the old emails on Thunderbird?

more options

I closed an email account but don't want the messages in the inbox to "leave" Thunderbird until I have a chance to sort through them.

Chosen solution

I suggest you take Thunderbird offline and get your messages moved. Since you already canceled the account if it does sync with the server your messages might disappear. That is why you do this BEFORE you cancel your service with the provider. Do not remove the account from Thunderbird before moving to local folders or they will be gone with the account.

There is no setting. You need to move the messages into a folder under Local Folders. Preferably before to terminate the old account to be sure you have copies. Is this an IMAP or POP account?

It is an IMAP account. I just want Thunderbird to quit trying to contact the closed account all of the time while I move necessary emails to another folder.
