Up to version 39 all tabs (I have some 500 open...) had been restored correctly on start of firefox. Since version 40 they are restored one or two times and then forgotten. I have tried version 42 but I go back to 39 every time since the bug is not fixed since 40. Version 39 works 100% relyable.

Are all tabs missing or do the tabs open but with the about:blank page (no URL)?

Did you look for History > Recently Closed Tabs/Windows?

Did you verify that Firefox closes properly?

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button > Exit (Power button)
  • Linux: File > Quit
  • Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox
  • Windows: File > Exit
