Employer changing email provider (fusemail to 365), using same email address. How can I direct the same address without losing email history?.

Employer was using Fusemail, thankfully they have seen the idiocy in this and are moving to Office 365. I have been using Thunderbird to redirect to and have been using Enigmail to encrypt for work related matters. At 365 the email address is the same as it was for Fusemail [email protected]. I would like to keep the history of emails that are stored in Thunderbird and be able to use the same PGP key with Enigmail.

I have tried adding a new email address using the same address and as expected I don't get any love. It states that the username or password is incorrect.

Can you think of a work around that will allow me to keep my history and still thread my email now hosted by 365 through Thunderbird? (it is superior) please don't tell me to use outlook for desktop ;D

Thanks in advance for your advice. BTW it will be used throughout our office it isn't just for me.

cheers.

Is your existing account IMAP or POP? What will the 365 account be IMAP or POP.

The advice depends entirely on the protocol. But be sure that your employer in their haste to change do not sign up for exchange without IMAP enabled. Both IMAP and POP are disabled by default in the hope of selling Outlook licenses. There are workarounds when when only OWA is available, but it in not quite the same as actually having the correct protocols to work with. Or as cheap.
