The crash report flagged these programs;
mswsock.dll = Microsoft
winmm.dll = Windows Multimedia
combase.dll = Microsoft
IPSEng32.dll = Symantec Intrusion Detection
IPSLdr32.dll = Symantec Intrusion Detection
SymHTML.dll = Symantec Corporation
ccL120U.dll = Symantec
coWPPlg.dll = Norton Confidential
cosfshre.dll = Norton Identity Safe
coUICtlr.dll = Norton Identity Safe
coffpl35.dll = Norton Identity Safe
Download the current full installers for your Norton programs and save it.
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product
After, reboot the computer and use a registry scanner.
Once you are done, run the full installer.
So here is the question. Why on a brand new laptop with a brand new install of ff and norton do I have to go through all that trouble?????
I can only tell you what the crash reports say.
Look for the Norton icon on your task bar by the clock. Right click it and select Get Support.

What registry scanner to use. So many are scams. Thanks.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can set set all plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page to check for issues caused by plugins.
Also check that you have the latest updates of your Norton security software.

Thanks for the Norton tip. I constantly run the update program when it crashes but it is running the 2014 toolbar. You would think this would be part of norton update check. Will install that when I get home from work. Thanks.
