after update, then reboot, I was forced ("x" generated that I have to choose) to select. I selected "Safe Browsing" instead of "default". Instead of my old looking Firefox, I get a brand new browser with absolutely no bookmarks. I need my bookmarks. Virus? I've no "quit" under top right menu. Refresh doesn't restore.

HI michaelyuen, The Firefox Refresh is also the name of the old Reset button where the current Firefox profile will be restored to the defaults. If this is what you mean by refresh, then there should be a folder titled "Old Firefox Data".

However if you are also referring to private windows, the bookmarks are still accessed from the bookmarks menu.

Does this help or are they still missing?Recover lost or missing Bookmarks

Did you use the Profile Manager to switch to another profile?
