No Newsgroups access -

After clean install of W7 TB installed and email working fine.

I have restored previously working profile but Newsgroups no longer working. It downloads newsgroup 'list' and allows me to subscribe ... but when I then click on group ... I can see it says connecting to .... then connected to server. Pop up then ask if I want to download first 500 headers ... click proceed

But after a few minutes no threads received and it gives "Thunderbird connection timed out"

Settings used are:

server: news.btinternet.com port: 119 connection security: none

Outgoing: smtp.office.365.com port: 587 Authentication: normal password Security: STARTTLS

email works fine ... just no newsgroup threads

<edit> just did un-install and reinstall, same fault ... suggesting its something set wrong in the settings (profile) any help appreciated. Have checked settings with someone else ... same settings work fine for them.

Resolved - may help others

As well as new install of TB .. had also installed Kaspersky

Kaspersky by default disables port 119 turned that off and all works again

Network settings > monitor selected ports only > select

scroll to 119 > right click and disable
