Till version 28 I could select a text part in the browser. Hit the printer button (icon) and save the selected text as pdf on the hard disk. As of 29 en higher, I get print preview and I can only print a complete page. This doesn't work for me and takes more time. After preview I have to select print again and don't get the part but the whole page and selection is disabled. Sometimes I print up to 50 times part of browser pages an hour.

Till now I have been downgrading back to version 28 after every update, but in every newer version I got the same problem. Why changing a winning team?

As long as I can remember I use Firefox the best browser out there. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your fast reply.

I couldn't find “file” or “print” under menu icon. Didn't think about ctrl-p, I have never used crtl- function before. Will work for me, but not as fast as it used to be.

Thanks.

I still think it's a pity they changed the function of the print icon to preview after all those years. I don't think many people use preview a lot.

The Print button in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list opens the Print Preview window. You can click the Print button in the Print Preview window or use the Print item in the File menu (File > Print) or use the Ctrl+P shortcut to have access to the print selection item and other print setup options.

  • Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.

You can also move this Print Preview button to a toolbar via the Customize mode.

not sure which versions this OP applies to

cannot get to the Print Preview or Print Selection from the 'three bar' icon

FF 33.1.1 - Win 8.1

also, and this was my reason for searching on this question: one cannot 'adjust' the Print Selection (with 'Scale') even if when using "Ctrl-P",

as one can do (ironically Microsoft has better implementation) in I.E. - Internet Explorer's print selection works as it should, allowing you to scale the 'selection' to fit properly within whatever 'page borders' are chosen, and/or within a certain number of pages

Mine problem was different and solved.

I have a non English and Windows 7 OS, so I don't now the exact English words and how it works in Windows 8. In Windows 7, to scale the print. Ctrl-P, next to printer name is a button Property, hit this one and go for Advanced, her is a scale option. If this won't work open a new question.
