I used to be a Firefox user until it randomly started crashing for me when I opened it. For a long while now I have used Google Chrome. Now I want to switch back to Firefox because Chrome uses lots of memory. When I installed and opened it I allowed Firefox to uninstall some of the extensions I don't want, and to update the ones I do want. When it opened up the main window it started to load some pages, then it froze my computer and ended with it blue screening.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

I am unable to do anything on my computer once Firefox has opened as it freezes my system, then proceeds to blue screen my laptop. As for starting in Safe Mode, it just froze my laptop when Firefox opened, like it does normally.

Does it say on the BSOD window which program or file is causing the crash?

You can also check the event log for more information

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I am currently running SpyBot Search & Destroy after running everything else. One of them found some Tracking Cookies on my system which is has now gotten rid of.

I also looked in the Event Viewer to try and find information about the BSOD. This is the XML view of the data from the time of the BSOD.

I've finished all the scans and fixed any problems I had on my computer.

When my computer blue screens this is the error message I get: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
