Even though I download and install the newest version of Firefox, it continues to tell me to download that version as if I haven't or it didn't truly install.

I go through the download process, and then the installation. It completes as if it has finished, but I never get the message in my firefox browser that I have been updated. Instead I continue to get a start-up screen that tells me I am out of date and should update. I have tried several times with the same results for varying versions (6.0, 6.0.1, 7.0 etc). I wonder if I am updating and the screen is wrong (not to mention annoying) or if there is a hitch in the installation/updating process even though it is not saying that it failed.

Can you provide the exact URL? It could just be an old-out-of-date page. What is your home page(s) set to? It could be that this page is set to open as your home page

Your UserAgent looks correct on this site, but do the following:

Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page. Filter = general.useragent. Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset. Then restart Firefox

What is telling you to download a different version? According to your user agent you are on the latest release, 7.0.1

It's a page that automatically comes up when I open Firefox with an exclamation point and the title "almost there". It says "Thanks for downloading Firefox, but this version is out of date..." and has a link to download the latest, which I already have. Thank you for letting me know that I am running with the latest release.

Thank you so much! That seemed to take care of it.
