Open Firefox -> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"

Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox and it should be ok. You can enable the Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

You can get a clean start with a new profile.

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, close Firefox and use the Profile Manager to create a new Firefox profile. Managing profiles.

You can import your bookmarks using the Bookmarks Organizer by restoring a backup from the bookmarkbackups folder in your existing profile. It's the "Choose file..." option mentioned in this article: Backing up and restoring bookmarks | How to | Firefox Help.

Once you are satisfied that the new profile is stable, you can migrate other key settings like saved passwords from your damaged profile to the new profile, see: Recovering important data from an old profile. Be selective about add-ons, since they are one of the primary culprits in instability.

I have decided that chaseing this problem will only result in many angry hours at the key board,so I have recorded my pass words and will back up all data and do a wipe with a new liux install with the latest O/S pick a new web browser and forget fire fox. This will take 3 hours and it will be all new when I am done .Best use of time .Thanks for your help and the answer Bill

@bluesman1951, did you try a new profile? Even if you're still angry afterwards, it only take a few minutes, not hours.

I noticed you mentioned backing things up just in case .LOL. It never goes perfect so perhaps this makes a bigger mess. Then I have chased a problem I dont understand for nothing.I dont know what a "profile " is .Sorry!!!!!! I know you mean well and this might even work, but I have no love for this tech junk ,so Ill just pay my friend and go have lunch, see a movie and come back pick it up, and this is over. This computer stuff is the single most annoying thing in my life, other than taxes and my ex girl friend may she fall off a cliff into a volcano with this lap top in her cheating hands . If this lap top drags her to the bottom then it has served a worthwhile purpose. Money well spent!!! Thanks for your help and your time ,may all things go well for you . The Bluesman
