Firefox will open the selected banking website but when I select "login" a box appears that says, " You are using a browser that has not been certified with this online banking product. You can't continue to use this browser. You should use Internet Explorer (6 or above)"

The bank is the Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, Lakeville, CT. They say it is my fault ..no one else has this problem.

The bank uses Jack Henry and associates, Inc, Monett, MO to offer netteller.com as an encrypted banking program. The bank says that this company claims they are not at fault.

What does this Browser Check test page come up with?

Thx for the tip. The browser test seems to give Firefox 3.6.13 a full reccomendation for use. ie, "it supports strong encryption and level of security"

It is capable of "communicating with site certificates"

It supports "required level of encryption, ie, 128-bit SSL"

I tested it twice with the same good results..now what?

I had also previously done a full virus scan with no problems and a malware scan that turned up 2 problems that were not related.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See:

You can also try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the Safe mode start window.

I'm having the exact same issue, and the above did not work. I have also tried disabling all plugins and using a new firefox profile. None of these work.

Did you check the settings in the firewall?

Some can block secure connections.

This is only happening in firefox. I can open up any other browser and it works fine. I'm using FF4 too.

All programs are different for a firewall (security software), so it is worth to check that even if other browsers work. A change caused by detecting an update can be sufficient for a firewall to change the settings.

I had the same problem, be careful, this is trojan zlob, none of my security programmes regognized it, but the the security desk of my bank.

The "Microsoft Safety Scanner" found it and after cleaning, it worked fine.
