My email is with Thunderbird. My domain name is with GoDaddy. GoDaddy have required me to change my emails to Outlook. I need the Domain Records so they can migrate all my past emails to Outlook.

If this URL applies to your situation, you may just need to adjust your Thunderbird account settings: https://www.godaddy.com/help/my-workspace-email-is-moving-to-microsoft-365-32394#First_Sub_Point_2

Thunderbird does support Exchange with an addon, either Owl or Exquilla.

GoDaddy have been very helpful, but so far, none of my Thunderbird emails before 14th June 2022 have migrated. GoDaddy keep telling me that I need to get the DNS records from Thunderbird so that GoDaddy can transfer my emails. A major problem is that there is no way I can find to talk or email anybody at Thunderbird. There is no phone number or online textchat capability. What do I do? I cannot get access to some valuable-to-me emails from weeks and months back.

I don;t know what it is you have been telling godaddy. But Thunderbird is a mail client. It has no DNS records for anyone to migrate anything from. My guess is godaddy are asking you for the previous hosts details, or the DNS records they were using to host your site or mail.

What I can assure you is Thunderbird is not involved here at all.

Hi Matt, thanks very much for your explanation about GoDaddy being a mail client and not having any migrate-able DNS records. I have very limited expertise in computer technology, being a retired 75year-old. Young people at GoDaddy have been repeatedly telling me that I need to get the DNS records from Thunderbird. I've just accepted that they know what they're talking about and have been trying to find how to get the information. It would appear from what you've written that they also have limited expertise, despite being employed in advisory roles! As for the previous host, I do not know who that might be!! GoDaddy are the people that my domain name is registered with (Since 2006/7 or 8. Can't remember which!). When I downloaded Thunderbird, many years ago, I was given 'POP3 Incoming mail: pop.secureserver.net' and 'Outgoing mail SMTP: smtpout.secureserver.net' to put into the Account Details. Does that tell you anything about who the host might be? Thanks anyway for your input. I'll go back to GoDaddy with what you've told me and see if I can make headway. I'd be devastated to lose the important-to-me emails that I received for the past few years. Best wishes, Aynsley
