My scanner/printer Konica Minolta Linium is setup in my internal network and has an adress Firefox and Chrome see as unsafe: 192.168.2.9/ you know, not https:// etc. How can I ensure that I will not be denied access? Yesterday I could not use it, today it has a lock with a red stripe on it. It is not a website but a valuable tool! I do not place info on it, but want to export my scans out of this source.

How is it physically connected to your computer?

Hi WestEnd, It is connected by a lan-cable to the router (internal network), and reached by one computer only via Wifi (Lan-port doesn't work on this one) . The laptop can do both wifi and Lan: 192.168.2.9/index.htm.

Did you update the router firmware as well? Sounds like it's a firmware problem that is causing that since it can't configure that IP address.

Hi Carof, if you use http:// with the device instead of https:// then your connection is not secured, meaning the data transmitted between Firefox and the device can be read by others with access to the network. Since this is on your local network, you might not care so much about that.

About this part:

How can I ensure that I will not be denied access? Yesterday I could not use it, today it has a lock with a red stripe on it.

Did you get an error message yesterday? Could you describe what happened in more detail?

The lock with a red slash will appear when an insecure (http://) page has a login form on it. Firefox will also display a warning in a drop-down when you use the form. However, you still should be able to use the page normally, the warning is just for your information.
