When using Private browsing, nothing is recorded. Any data will be cleared when the browser closes.

If you want to save something like searches, create a bookmark or shortcut.

Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history

Firefox Private Browsing is great for viewing websites without saving things like cookies, temp files, and a history of the pages you visit.

Firefox shouldn't interrupt your session to update, it should wait until you close Firefox.

However, if you are saying that this occurs when you put Windows 10 in sleep mode and wake it from sleep mode, maybe that could trigger it, I don't know, I don't let Windows do that.

To exercise more control over when Firefox updates, you can have it ask you before it starts the process of downloading an update. This is set on the Options page. See: Firefox options, preferences and settings. I've been using "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" since the beginning.
