Firefox 44 Java6Upd7 doesnt appear in addons
Hi I've instlled Java6upd7 for a legacy Oracle system we need to use but it doesnt appear in the addons. Browsing to our page states In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
I've done this too but to no avail.

Hmm, did you read all the way to the bottom of the list -- beyond the normal position based on alphabetical order? Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Then scan down the list on the right. Disabled plugins (those with a global permission of "Never Activate") are listed at the bottom. Is Java there?
That very old version of Java has been blocked by Mozilla for almost 4 years now. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/p80 https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2012/04/02/blocking-java/
Have you asked your company IT department what to do?
If they're running 'legacy' Oracle software they should know of how to get that old version of Java to work with modern web browsers, especially on the PC's they supply to you to do your job.
Hi I'm pretty new to Firefox. I read that it's possible to activate blocked Java per site? Anyone know how this works? Cheers Phil

Not sure if that old version of Java will be allowed to work in Firefox 44 via "click-to-play".
Hi ed Thanks for the link Problem is that Java isn't shown on the addins page..even as disabled
When I browse to the page that needs it I just get a message saying I need to install Java (the old version) to view it
Firefox discovers the Java plugin from an entry the Java installer creates in the Windows registry. If you are familiar with how to use RegEdit, you can check for it here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MozillaPlugins
Or maybe Firefox discovered it there but it's SO OLD that it is completely ignored. I'm not aware that Firefox does that, but there are many things I learn every week...
