When will FireFox allow me 2 actually see & control my internet connection speed in the Firefox options. I have 100MBps but it takes me 1 hour to download a 400MB file@170kb/s! WTF! is this garbage???? No proxys not a bad modem or router or isp. Websites come up fast great no big deal but the download rate is deadly. I'll die of old age before a 400 Mega byte file downloads it shouldn't take me but at most 5 to 10 minutes.,.... Firefox does not have data rate/speed control options.... PERIOD...

Download rate isn't controlled by your browser, Firefox will try to download something as fast as possible. Downloads are controlled by your internet bandwidth, the bandwidth of the site you are downloading from, if you have other computers on your network downloading stuff at the same time it can slow things down, all of these factors can impact your download speed. Firefox has no impact on that.

You can do a few things, restart your router, your modem, run a speedtest, contact your ISP to see if there are issues in your area, etc. But if this is an issue where the server you are downloading from has a slow bandwidth there is nothing you can do unfortunately.

Firefox will use all download bandwidth that is available.

Note that such an issue can also be caused by security software.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
