I am totally loyal to Firefox. I am totally loyal to Amazon.com. I totally detest the default browser that ships with the Kindle's. I currently am running Firefox with the Kindle Fire HD and it works perfectly. I am looking for a way to set Firefox as the default browser. Any thoughts? I read other posts and have cleared out all the defaults on the "other" browser. I just want to set Firefox so it will be default. Thanks...

Hi,

Thanks for using Firefox on Kindle Fire HD, I'm not a KF expert, but maybe the last step in this article will help you? http://www.ekoob.com/change-default-launch-app-kindle-fire-hd-11752/

It looks like there is a 'Set as Default' checkbox to click before you open a web page with Firefox. (However, I did find another thread on amazon.com that claims there isn't a way to set any other browser as default on KF, so good luck and let us know if you get this working.)

Thanks! Michelle

Hello Michelle, THANK you for your suggestion. It did not work, however. Amazon reminds me of Apple back in the 80's. Apple eventually changed, somewhat but not before I chewed all my nails off.

I probably am going to have to look around for an alternate way to get the result I want. If I find something, I will post. I probably should not post a "hack" ??

Somewhere..... there was a way to get a screen to come up asking for what "default" browser you wanted. I cannot seem to generate that screen again.

I may just wipe out my Kindle and reload from scratch. It is just a pain to do. There should be an easier way. I feel that I am not alone in my dislike. Amazon is usually so VERY accommodating for most everything else. Some old school programmer, still using Edlin for HIS editor, was responsible for this. No female programmer would allow it.

I love the Kindle in every other respect. We own 3. Go figure. Anyway, thank you for the links. I hate to be anal but will continue on my search.

Cheers, Kbarnsda
