When I log on to my bank account, my information routed to dazzlepod, your add on, instead of my bank?

more options

It took me awhile to figure this out. I have Trusteer Rapport for security and I get a weekly report. If I have tried to log on to my bank account, the report shows my information going to an incorrect site and Trusteer replaces it with a known site for my bank.

It lists the incorrect IP address as 23.6.160.226. When I look that number up it is a site called dazzlepod and down at the bottom of the page it tells me that it is a firefox add on. You want to tell me why you are sending my banking log in to dazzlepod???

In my first reply I suggested copying and pasting your extensions list from

Help > Troubleshooting Information

For an interactive page where you can disable or remove any extensions, see:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

If there's really nothing there, could you check the following:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > "Network" mini-tab > Settings button

Typically you will use No Proxy or Use system proxy settings. If you see anything else here, try one of those.

You also may want to run some supplemental scans. These three tools are highly regarded (and free):

What extensions do you have? You can copy and paste a list from this page:

I found this extension made by a author name dazzlepod. Like the vast majority of extensions hosted at addons.mozilla.org this is a third-party extension that has no Mozilla involvement.

I actually had figured all that out. My concern is that it is presenting itself as the log in site for my bank. Are you telling me that anybody can hitch a ride on Mozilla and even thought they have no connection to Mozilla, they can act through the server and present themselves as my bank log in??

Don't know about you but that doesn't make me feel real safe using firefox.

Hi Tigger2, you wrote:

If your address bar for the login page shows the green padlock with the correct owner information, then that provides pretty good assurances that you are logging into your bank's site, not a third party site.

However, add-ons have access to the information you enter in a form, such as a login form. You should only install add-ons that you trust.

Extensions are independently developed programs that usually have no connection to Mozilla and do not act through any Mozilla server. The add-ons site is like an online store, and add-ons do not carry any official endorsement. Just as you would with any software you download from the internet for your computer or mobile device, exercise caution.

As for what is happening on your system, I have no idea. I don't use Trusteer Rapport. Maybe they can review the report and provide a more detailed explanation.

GREAT answer!! One more please.

If I understand you correctly, Dazzlepod shouldn't be active in my account unless I signed up for it?? Never been to the extension store - Never signed up for anything. That's why I assumed that my server gave them access. How do I get rid of them?

Trusteer gave me the IP number and told me they searched through their data base and redirected me to the right address... If you go to 23.6.160.226 you get dazzlepod and they declare themselves an add on but don't provide any form of communication unless you want to order a product.

Sorry to keep asking but I'm almost there in understanding it. I am older with no kids to guide me through this stuff. I can barely navigate my way around my microwave but I can learn. Tell me how to get rid of the dazzlers and I'm on it.

Trusteer Rapport is actually very cool. Got it as a gift from my bank. You can apply your very own green cube to any website you go to. If you use the same password at multiple sites, you get a pop up asking if you really want to do that and much more but I won't bore you with it.

Thanks for your help with this.
