Hello I've this problem on MAC OS X 10.8.3 with firefox 19.0.2 , and this problem happened alot and I wish from you to fix it, each time I lunch firefox I got this error

"Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features."

and after I go to firefox folder and just delete profiles.ini not that file ,db cause nothing happen after deleted it the problem main the same only with profiles.ini if deleted firefox start fresh one which I lose all data on it.

Try to delete the secmod.db file in the Firefox profile folder.

If that didn't help then rename or delete the cert8.db file (e.g. cert8.db.old) in the Firefox profile folder as well.

If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file. Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates. Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

Thanks alot for the fast reply :). as I said deleting that file didn't make any change just remain the same error just when I delete the profiles.ini Firefox start again but now I did run it without installing ADD-ON download Manager Tweak Extension, and I did make restart and shutdown to my mac and still didn't get that problem so I believe that this ADD-ON cause that problem no idea yet and will reply here to tell if Firefox still running or not.
