Firefox 19 MISSING Bookmarks Library's Search filter feature, why?
Good Day,
Has anyone else noticed the following issue?:
Re Firefox 19.0 Bug/Broken Feature MISSING Bookmarks Library's Search filter feature.
ie: select "Show All Bookmarks" => enter a search string in 'Search Bookmarks' eg:win => MISSING "Search in:" filter(s)
This has been present in all previous Firefox versions before 19.0, and it is a VERY VALUABLE feature.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thank You Very Much, Roberta

Turns out this bar was removed (temporarily?) so that it is easier to convert the library dialog into a tab.
Bug 750544 – Library: Remove the scope bar.
There might be an add-on to replace this functionality, or maybe someone will create one.

Sorry, I'm missing the point of what's missing. What were the filters you used before that are missing now?
In the Library you should still be able to only search in the folder that is selected in the left pane
- Search: Bookmarks History <selected bookmarks folder>
I'm not aware of any other filter choices.
Good Day,
Unfortunately I can't narrow down the results to the current folder. In previous versions I could narrow it down/filter it to the current folder
Thank You Very Much, Roberta
PS: I have reinstalled Firefox 19.0 using a new profile, with No add-ons, & without my preferences.... ..& the problem persists.... OS: Win XP Pro SP3
This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Good Day Dear Jscher2000,
Thank You Very Much for your GREATLY APPRECIATED reply.
That's BAD NEWS indeed, as that feature enabling me to narrow down the search to a folder (& its subfolders) was VERY USEFUL/ESSENTIAL to my usage model. :(
Sadly as Mozilla is now taking away Important features that made Firefox unique, particularly when managing a large number of bookmarks (currently about 12,000 in my case)...,
..It makes it Much Easier & Likely that I will change to another browser (Opera or Chrome)...
Btw, I have been using & recommending Firefox since ver 0.x
How can I provide Mozilla with relevant feedback re this?
Thank You Very Much,
Roberta
Hi Roberta, there is a link on the Help menu to submit feedback.
I'm not sure where the planning is taking place for moving the library dialog into a tab, but you might try to get this on their to-do list.
Good Day Dearest Jscher2000,
Thank You Very Much for your Appreciated reply.
I have already submitted feedback via the Help menu feedback entry...
But I was hoping there might be another way....
Best Regards,
Roberta
For those of you needing to upgrade past FF 18, but also not being able to live without your "search within this folder" option (like me), the addon SavedSearchButton 1.3 gets the job done by White Alice0775.
