vimeo lags the whole firefox application
Hi there
For the past 1 1/2 months, whenever I load up www.vimeo.com and that is before I click and play any of the videos on the site, Firefox immediately lags. It also naturally, lags when I hit play on any of the videos. If I were to just let it be for a few seconds the video will eventually play although it still lags terribly and as soon as I move my mouse cursor (which takes quite some time changing from the finger icon whenever you press on the play button on a vimeo video to the normal windows arrow icon cursor), Firefox lags and a "(not responding)" would appear at the top of my taskbar only for it to be ok after a few seconds of just letting go of my mouse which means I'm not moving my mouse cursor at all. Firefox resumes back normally once I close the vimeo website tab. Essentially, I've to close one of my tabs which loads up the Vimeo website or be on another tab for my Firefox to work normally.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, made sure all my plugins and graphic drivers were updated including flash etc and have tried the solutions found on the mozilla support site such as disabling hardware accelaration under the firefox options menu but no dice, it still gives me a problem. It works fine on youtube but not vimeo. Vimeo works fine both in Chrome and Internet Explorer as well.
And lastly, Firefox these days crashes wayyyyy too often. Like I would be just browsing through any website, be it vimeo or facebook and it'll just crash, I don't know if it's a flash issue but I've updated it as well as reinstalling it numerous times to no avail. Anyway, that's not my main problem, my main grouse is this vimeo on firefox issue so I sincerely hope you can help me out here. Thanks very much for your time !

Hey guys, I've tried resetting it and it's fine and I proceeded to install my extensions & addons and the problem occurred. So I tried reinstalling them one by one and checked which one caused the problem and turns out it's my "free download manager" addon...so i guess, for now...problem fixed.
not too sure bout the firefox crashing problem though but for now the vimeo problem's fixed, thanks for your help guys!

hello, maybe it's an issue with the protected mode in the flash plugin - you could try if downgrading to flash 10.3 (which is still supported) or disabling protected mode makes a difference.
please also enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be behind those crashes. thanks...
Hi, thanks very much for the reply madperson.
Yup, Ive tried both the disabling protected mode and downgrading flash but no dice.
I've entered " about:crashes ", It says "Firefox 18.0.2 Crash Report [@ EMPTY: no crashing thread identified; corrupt dump ] " for the last few crashes. Im not sure which detail I should post up here though..is it the Processor Notes?
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

ok, @empty is bad since the cause of the crash couldn't be determined and the reports were submitted empty. could you copy/paste the last 5 ones nevertheless, the important thing is just the ID, that will look something like bp-XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXX130212
Tyler, Ive uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 3 times now and all 3 times the problem was still there..damn its one persistent bugger. Nevertheless, I'll give it another go as soon as I hit reply
madperson, ohboy..empty's bad huh, well the last 5 reports' id's are :
bp-36be23ea-ef08-4bb0-bd98-41ec12130211 bp-d6722253-1b49-41fa-9074-004a62130211 bp-c7e30bda-4f5f-479b-bbda-de4ee2130211 bp-07a28ed9-9d55-4b96-b245-aed172130210 bp-e48e98be-3cf0-4c15-8bde-0c6062130210
hello a reset is not the same as a mere reinstall - please try that in case you haven't performed it before...
another thing that you could try is updating your graphics driver - this should be the most current one for your system (assuming you're on windows 7 32bit): http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/55026
