In Firefox 4 there is no refresh button on the navigation toolbar. When I go to add one by customising, I am not offered a refresh icon. There are only 17 icons to choose from. The "help" on customising shows a lot more options.

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (Refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.

When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.

If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. Ah! Thanks TonyE, I hadn't noticed that .... (obviously!)

I am a fairly confident computer user and I see NO Stop Go or Reload buttons attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.

Also, I figured out how to Customize, but I don't see them in the Customize Icon view. They aren't there to add!

Am I just being overly stupid here (wouldnt be the first time in my life...lol)?

Also, on one of the responses, it was mentioned that a picture was attached. How do I see this pic? I saw no little icon to do so

Hi leefoo

At the right-hand end of the address bar is:

a star - to bookmark the address
a down arrow - to open the list of recent addresses
a circular reload arrow - to reload the page.

It is about 1/3 the size of the previous reload button and so is easily overlooked - as you and I both did.

I don't want my stupid stop and reload buttons to be combined... what happens (as had happened in Firefox 3.x before I found the separator add-on) is that when it loads a page, it does not give you the option to STOP the page from loading (which is sometimes desirable in reality). It is especially burdensome with websites like Yahoo! Mail, which sometimes get stuck on constantly reloading and reloading itself... There is no way out if your stop button inconveniently only says "refresh."

To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:

  • Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
  • Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
  • Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.
