Firefox was crashing so I found the folder in C:Program Files and renamed it before a new install. I downloaded the new Installer and installed Firefox again thinking all would be saved, but now, my bookmarks are missing and the history from the last few weeks are gone and started with the date I re-installed it. I have an old AT&T email that is now Yahoo and been using it for years. I tried to log in and I get a different screen asking about an ID which I don't have. Firefox always launched showing this icon to start yahoo as well as Chase Ect...ect and all are gone.

Is there a way to point to the old folder, after changing it back to original name and get back to previous version?

I did find another Mozilla file under Users,ComputerName,AppData, Local. I don't know if it was created with the new install or there before and just updated because I renamed the first file I found and now it's using C:Users to start Firefox. Any help getting back to where I was is appreciated.

Thank you

Tony

Enter about:profiles in the address bar and check if you have your old profile there.

Apparently not, I see three listings of Default Profile no Root Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sqafx2ol.default-1712027416317 Local Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sqafx2ol.default-1712027416317

Profile: default-release Default Profile no Root Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\eafxw98r.default-release Local Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\eafxw98r.default-releas

Profile: default-release-1 This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. Default Profile yes Root Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i69lmxwm.default-release-1 Local Directory C:\Users\thile\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\i69lmxwm.default-release-1

I opened folder of last profile listed and has date of re-install and not an earlier date, so I guess previous is gone.

Thank you very much for your help.

I wanted to post this update.

I changed the target of the Firefox link in properties to the original folder I renamed under C:Program Files and now all is working, even my email.

I don't know if C:Program Files is a better location for Firefox or the C:Users directory path to local folder, not sure why I have two.

I guess the better way is to do an import of history and bookmarks before new install, but seems like there would be a better way to do this.

To restore your old Firefox bookmarks and settings, try this: rename the folder you originally changed back to its original name, then open Firefox and check if your data reappears. If that doesn’t work, look in `C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles` for any old profile folders. You can use the `about:profiles` page in Firefox to point the browser to an older profile and recover your data.
