I am trying to set up a new account so that I can send email through a mailroute server instead of my provider, comcast. I set up the account without a problem but I get an error when trying to send a message. I was never asked for an SMTP password and none is visible in the Saved Password window.

Just a guess, but not many mail servers support encrypted passwords.

I looked at their instructions and they say normal password. https://support.mailroute.net/hc/en-us/articles/23865465212051-Mozilla-Thunderbird-Outbound-Configuration-SMTP-Auth-Relay

Thanks Matt. I tried that but it didn't help.

It worked after updating to version 115.10.1 of Thunderbird!
