remove version 115 then replace with version 102
I had version 102:15:1 up and running after I had new terrible version 115 removed. Now during an update TB/Mozilla reverted me back to 115. Now I do not seem to be able to downgrade back to 102:15:1 again. WHY Help would be gratefully received. Thanks

Hi David and Wayne,Thanks for your advice and suggestions, however I was very content with the previous version of Thunderbird and have contributed to Mozilla fairly often; I decided to take my problem to someone who has more experience than I, I asked him to download 102 and then act as administrator to block Thunderbird updates, and their trying to switch me back to version 115, which he has done for me. I am 82 yrs young and can live with no updates. I am a great believer in "if it aint broke then do not try and fix it", and judging from all the traffic on Thunderbird there are many, many others who feel as I do.
Thanks again Robin

As your prior attempts indicate, attempting to go back to an older version is not reliable nor advisable.
I'm not a person who will help you with that process. But I and others will help you with "send and encryption lock" mentioned in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1425441 - please post a screen shot there of what you are seeing - and other issues you have with 115.
Thank you, Wayne. I am 82 yrs young and been VERY happy with Thunderbird for many years, that is until version 115 and agree with the many many complaints re the new 115. I had successfully downloaded version 102:15:1, then came the dreaded UPDATE and that reverted me back to version 115. Sorry I am not interested in using 115 in any form, as just not as good as previous versions.

Please follow Wayne's suggestion. If you post whatever problems you are having, I think we can assist. Like you, I was annoyed initially with 115 because it was different, but after I adjusted a few settings, I would not want to revert to 102. Actually, my 115 now looks almost identical to 102, but better. What I do suggest is that you go to settings>privacy&security and set Thunderbird to NOT automatically update, which is why you were updated from 102 to 115. That puts you back in control for future versions. The benefit of 115 is that it is actively supported and 102 is at end-of-life.

I'm curious about the consistent denial of any help to revert to the old version...some of us old folks find nothing to like about the new version Version (115.4.2) I didn't knowingly install this version, and have been disappointed in it from the start- now i find the the (2) search functions only search the subject, not the text of emails.....I can't work with that. is there a fix for that issue? is there ant possible way to get the old version back?
is there another client that's closer to the old version than Version 115.4.2?
I know i'm ignorant about this stuff, but geeze, Version 115.4.2 really looks like a big step backward to some of us...thanks ;-)

I am not aware of any problems in this area. Please post your issue with more details (exactly how you are invoking search for example) in a new topic.
