Since the newest firefox update to version 97, when I open firefox all it shows me are blank tabs. It doesn't load any websites and when I restart it, it doesn't even show that it's loading a website either - it's just blank (and then I also can't access settings). I tried everything that is out there. I tried opening it in troubleshoot mode, I even reinstalled it, I checked for java and adobe flash players, I cleared all history. Sometimes it also just doesn't open when I try to. Is there anything I am missing that might help me get my beloved firefox back?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Could this be relevant? A couple of other users identified Webroot (security software) as blocking 64-bit Firefox 97 -- released today -- from running properly: If you are still running an earlier release of Firefox, this would not be your issue.

After consulting with WebRoot, they advised this was a known issue. The fix was to remove and reinstalled the WebRoot application.
