Story time.

I have a gmail account, been using it for years with thunderbird, version 12.

Windows 2000, there IS a reason for that, the ONLY purpose of the machine was to get email from the gmail account and get the weather from the web, there is no other reason for the machine to exist.

Weather website finally updated the certificate and it was time to change machines.

Now it's a W10(64), but still only 3 programs on it, Firefox, Audition, & Thunderbird.

Thunderbird (latest).

With the old bird, having the gmail inbox in combined mode gave me the sent items displayed in the inbox folder. It still does that on the other machine. But the new bird insists on moving sent items to the sent folder, essentially moving them OUT the inbox.

How do I stop that behavior?

Gmail automatically copies sent messages to the [Gmail]/Sent Mail folder, and I don't think there's any way to stop that, but you can select Other: in "Place a copy in" in the Copies & Folders section of Account Settings and choose Inbox.

Actually it's a thing with gmail in that external programs get access to the combined inbox with conversations or something like that.

That did something even stranger, it's duplicating the inbox in my sent items, ...
