I tend to keep multiple tabs open. I had 2 windows open, one with a single tab and one with multiple old tabs. I opened my laptop and my window with all my tabs closed. The one with the single tab was still there. I could never remember all of the lost tabs. Is there a way to get them back? There is nothing under recently closed tabs or recently closed windows.

Unfortunately, firefox appears to only remember the last window closed tabs, rather than all tabs in all windows, so in the future, to avoid this issue, I'd be sure to close the window with your tabs you want to recover last.

Did you look at "History -> Recently Closed Tabs/Windows" ?

You will normally find these files in the sessionstore-backups folder:

  • previous.jsonlz4 (cleanBackup: copy of sessionstore.jsonlz4 from previous session that was loaded successfully)
  • recovery.jsonlz4 (latest version of sessionstore.jsonlz4 written during runtime)
  • recovery.baklz4 (previous version of sessionstore.jsonlz4 written during runtime)
  • upgrade.jsonlz4-<build_id> (backup created during an upgrade of Firefox)

You can copy a file from the sessionstore-backups folder to the main profile and rename the file to sessionstore.jsonlz4 to replace the current file (make sure to backup the current sessionstore.jsonlz4).
