upgraded, uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird, but do not receive emails, tho windows email is working

upgraded. doesn't recognize username &/or password. tried to change password, but never received email with link to do so. Uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, but still have same problems. It says it sent link to change password, but I never receive it.

Standalone or with the built-in update mechanism, where you press the 'Restart to apply update' Button.
