can't send emails after update (win10)
Thunderbird just did an automated update and now I can't send emails because I am told:
Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) secure244.sgcpanel.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.
I have gone through the server settings on a 55 minute chat with siteground and everything is fine from their end and with my settings, but it still won't connect. It was working just fine before the security update, then nothing. I disabled Norton and that did nothing. I am able to receive emails, but not send them. I can send through my webmail so it's not with the server...
We went through various ports, server setting, and authentication and nothing is working. Like I said, it was fine all day.. then an update... then blammo.

Does problem go away?
I tried exactly what you suggested and using different server settings and still had no luck.
I don't have an answer. But a question - which version did you update from - 38, or 31?
I'm sorry I don't know, and I don't see where I can find that out. I am running V45.0 now, and it is set to automatically update which is what happened yesterday. Is there a way to revert back to a previous version?
On the toolbar > Options> Advanced >update and click the show update history.
Now what were the last two versions installed?
Thanks...
It went from 38.7.2 (20160402193654) to 45.0 (20160407161913)
I contacted my ISP and had them unblock port 25, adjusted the settings of the outgoing and it is still not getting through. Is there a way of reverting TB back to the previous build?
First, try installing version 45.0 from fresh download at http://getthunderbird.com/ - this often helps users who have similar problem with a new release
If that fails, then try the old version from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/38.7.2/win32/en-US/
Let us know what happens
Version 45 was still no good, but reinstalling 38.7.2 WORKED!
Bug somewhere is v-45?

I doubt it really.
Try the update again (now going back is simple.) and open the error console (ctrl+Shift+J) Clear it. Try sending a message. What message, or messages, appear in the error console. (Right clicking allows you to copy them to paste into a reply here.
OK I am having the same problem (installed and reinstall 45.0) and 38.7.2 reversion worked perfectly. So I doubt this is not a bug in 45.0.
I have also DISABLED ALL ADD ONS
Here is the error messages I get when I hit send Timestamp: 5/2/2016 3:02:37 PM Error: An error occurred executing the cmd_sendButton command: [Exception... And those error implicate the check and send add-on. Try disabling it.
OMG, first thank you that solved the problem. I thought I disabled ALL add-ons but I guess I didn't there were 2 that didn't get disabled and Check and Send was one of them
Display Mail Agent was the other.
Second of all, I LOVE!!!! LOVE!!!! LOVE Check and Send, it has SAVED MY BUT so many times. But with all the security issues facing SMTP, I don't think this is the right time to use an older version.
Thanks again!
