Since taking the Thunderbird update to 38.5.1, Lightning calendar cannot be found.
I avoided taking the update for quite some time since it said birdiesync does not work with it and I paid for that program to sync my phone and laptop. Now I finally took it, and my calendar has disappeared. I read through the other poster's issues and the fix of downloading thunderbird and installing in safe mode did not fix the issue. Anti-virus has always allowed Thunderbird and birdiesync and Norton still has it on the approved programs list. Upon opening Tbird, selecting add-ons shows lightning there with the options of: options, disable & remove.
I sure hope I haven't lost the last year's calendar entries as I use this for business and must have it for IRS documentation of jobs performed.

I ended up finding directions/troubleshooting steps that actually worked for me here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mozilla.support.calendar/Ds0kNdPDNXY.
However, I no longer had the calendar on the toolbar to select, but upon opening TB, reminders for the past week popped up, letting me know Lightning was back in TB. I had to choose Events and Tasks from the top menu and check Calendar. That option had not been available before.
Hope this helps anyone else with this issue.
