I am presently working on a customer's machine, allow me to explain the context before I ask the question.

She has an 80GB SSD installed with her OS, and it's now full. She has migrated all user files to her 500GB storage drive, and it hasn't relieved the available space problem at all. When I WinDirStatted the drive, I found that there is 16GB of Thunderbird Emails stored in her AppData folder. What I want to do is transfer those messages to the storage drive, and reimport them. The problems I'm foreseeing are

1)If I reimport them, won't it just readd them to the default storage location, thus recreating the problem? 2)Does Thunderbird allow me to even do this? 3)Is this going to cause problems with the structure of her email's sorting? She has them sorted into dozens of folders and I'm positive she wants to keep them this way.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Outlook is more my forte, as I work at a corporate level more often than not.

Thank you!

I'd suggest you move your Thunderbird profile to the HDD. No need to export or reimport anything. Just move the profile's data files and change profiles.ini to reflect the new location.

Presumably when your user shifted her "user files" she didn't move AppData too? Otherwise Thunderbird's profile would have gone with it, automatically. ISTR that you can change the location of certain system files, including Usersetc.
