Sorry you has that happen.

See the attached screenshot. If you selected the option to Remove my Aurora (Nightly, Minefield, Firefox) personal data and customizations you deleted all your Profiles for every version you have/had installed. You can try using a file recovery program , like Recuva, to see what can be recovered.

For bookmarks, you need the places.sqlite file, or one of the bookmarks-yyyy-mm-dd.json bookmark backup files (10 are stored). As far as your passwords, you need both the signons.sqlite file and the key3.db file.

cwheat,

Unfortunately there is not tool to recover passwords and history. Once the file storing this is cleared it cannot be undone. It does warn of that when clearing history.

Thanks,

Scott

Thanks, at least I know what to look for now, just wish they would have been a little more clear that it would remove profiles from past versions as well.

It also just happened to me..

My OS is Windows XP Home : SP3 I don't know if it will work on Vista or 7.. I have Win 7 on my laptop but haven't tried it yet since the restore feature in it is different from XP.

If your lucky enough to have set your windows "system restore" in a regular basis like mine. You can use it and it will recover all your bookmarks and saved passwords. Then you can screen capture all your saved passwords and export your bookmarks for future use. Compress it with winRAR and encrypt it with your most common password so that no can easily hack it.

Do it at your own risk, don't blame me if something happens to your computer. My restore date is only 1 day old.. If your restore point is a week or a month old, it can affect your computer since a lot of updates have been applied in your system. After I did it, I had a problem with my Antivirus, I just uninstalled it and reinstall. I don't know of other thing that can happen in your case. I'm just trying to help and give you an option. Maybe you can also save another restore point before doing so..

Note: After doing this, Aurora will still appear since you restored your system. If you try uninstalling it again and doesn't respond. Try to install it again and choose upgrade. Run it for a while or leave it as it is, it doesn't matter. Then go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it again. Now, don't click the "Remove minefield personal data" as posted by "the-edmeister".

Good luck and hope this helps not only to you but for others as well..

Cheers...

I realize its a bit late now, but you can backup your profiles etc using MozBackup, a freebie from - http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/. Does not work with Aurora yet, but Firefox versions 6beta and before are covered, also Thunderbird v5 and before. Can backup as many times as you like as each backup is a separate file name. Recovery is also easy.

OK, I guess we're clear now on this [mis]behavior ...

'See the attached screenshot. If you selected the option to Remove my Aurora (Nightly, Minefield, Firefox) personal data and customizations you deleted all your Profiles for every version you have/had installed'

However, there's NO good reason to be happy/satisfied with this perverse behavior!

Deleting ALL bookmarks/history/customizations associated with ALL installed Mozilla browsers is just RUDE (and, I hope - eventually - unnecessary).

Yes I thought firefox was separate. I don't think the warning was clear at all. People were complaining i noticed fron firefox 4 we are now up to 9 with not solution. Bill51

Luckily I am seeing this problem before I uninstall Aurora, but I do need a way to remove it without affecting the other version of Firefox browser on my machine. Ever since I installed Aurora, I am not able to install necessary add-on applications to any version of the Mozilla browsers on the machine; especially those that capture flash video. I feel as if my Fox has been neutered.

Remove my Aurora personal data and customizations is an uninstall procedure option that isn't automatically selected - the user needs to click the box to select that option when they are uninstalling Aurora or any other version of "Firefox".

Hi, this may need to be a different thread, but I think many of us would not be racing to uninstall Aurora if we weren't all having the same problems. The primary one I am having is that none of the add-ons will download/install in the browser correctly. Every one I try to add fails. I always get the same message about the failure to download the add-on due to not being able to connect with the Mozilla server. It doesn't seem to be a mere issue of the developers of the add-ons not being up to date with the rapidly changing build of Aurora. I was even able to manually install the add-0n I needed; even though the add-on is currently listed as non-compatible on the Mozilla website list. So I think the issue must be in how Aurora retrieves the add-ons from the home server. Please let me know if I am barking up the right tree, or what the solutions are? All the best, NickFromSpace!

I am facing the same problem. All my research bibliography is gone. Synchronization was also not useful as i stopped using internet on my desktop months ago and i use it on my laptop only. I am screwed like hell. 8 months of work gone like this. M so so soo hurt by Mozilla.

Aurora didn't ask me that u want to keep your bookmarks or not..or nothing like that.

This is bad real bad... m almost crying :'(
