Laptop touchpad scroll button doesn't work in Firefox but works in other progs. I have tried changing mousewheel.withnokey settings as per Firefox help.
I have an Acer Laptop Aspire 1690 I've installed the latest driver from the Acer website. I can use the scroll button ok in outlook express, internet explorer, adobe pdf reader, etc but not in firefox. I've searched the help in here and tried changing the mousewheel.withnokey settings. But still not working. Any ideas? TIA Andy

There's a bug filed about Acer touchpads not scrolling in Firefox 4, though it looks like you reported this bug with Firefox 3.6
If you're seeing this bug in Firefox 4 betas I think it would be helpful to know what versions of the driver and what OS people are using that are seeing this problem. You can post it here and I can post it to the bug, or if you have a bugzilla account or want to sign up for one, you can post the info yourself Firefox 4 w Acer scrolling bug
If you're seeing this bug with Firefox 3.6 don't post in the bug, but let us know here since that would be a different issue.
Thx for the reply. I'm using Firefox 3.6.13 But I now use a USB mouse with scroll wheel, so not too concerned about the laptop scroll button not working.
I still have a problem with plugin-container.exe See https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/707504
Hi, I just downloaded firefox 4 today and my touchpad scroll is not working with firefox 4. It works with other programs. Also it was working with firefox 3.6. Is there a solution for this ?
I am using windows XP professional service pack 3.
Hello,
I have a Lenovo T400, and I have the same issue with the trackpad scrolling. I'm not able to use to the side-part of my touchpad (it's called Ultranav by Lenovo) to scroll webpages.
This used to work in FF 3.6.15 and before and still works for all other applications (Chrome, Thunderbird, Windows Explorer etc). This seems to be specific to FF 4 RC1 which I have currently installed. I haven't tried tried uninstalling FF4 and retrying.
I forgot to mention that I have Win XP SP3
There was a similar question at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/787447#question-reply. I've posted a reply there but basically, touchpad scrolling works after I installed the latest UltraNav driver downloaded from Lenovo's support site. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on an IBM T60.
Note: I down loaded and installed the latest Lenovo (R61 notbook) UltraNav driver, and I think it helped to make the TrackPoint work in other programs but I still can't get either the TrackPoint (center button) or the the TrackPad to work in FireFox...
Any more suggestion???
Perhaps I need to Down-Version until it works.
I use Lenovo T400 thinkpad, all you need to do is download the new driver for the ultranav pad.
Hi, I have this problem with firefox 4 + IBM thinkpad R50e.
TOOLS > OPTIONS > ADVANCED uncheck smooth scrolling.. worked for me
Thanks to http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801725#answer-161532
Try this :
For all who have problem with the standard ALPS touchpad driver in firefox 4; here is a quick registry fix: 1) Open registry with regedit 2) Search for following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alps\Apoint 3) Set ScrMethod to 1 4) Reboot
After that scrolling in FF4 should be possible.
For me it works with a Acer Aspire
I've resolved the issue. Not sure if it was a result of what I did or was it simply because of restarting the browser.... I only had this problem since I upgraded to FF 5 from 3.6 two days ago. What I did was disable the smoothwheel add on, after restarting FF touchpad scrolling was working again. However I enabled smoothwheel again, restarted, and it still works... if you have this add on installed try to do this, it might work to fix your problem!
I had the same issue. But, somewhat been solved when uninstalled and reinstalled the firefox and upgraded it during the process.
Thanks!!! This worked in 5 also. I'm using a Gateway with the Alps touchpad.
I'm not quite sure but often the problem is related to the Adobe pdf plug in.... I was witness of very strange behavior of Firefox. Once the pdf is opened the scrolling work only for this tab, and the others are disabled.
