Strange Thunderbird Bug - Duplicating Just A Few Very Old Emails In Multiple Folders After Thunderbird Is Left Running For An Hour Or More

Hi all at Mozilla,

For about the past year I've been experiencing a strange bug that happens only after Thunderbird is left running for more than an hour.

In a seemingly random manner, Thunderbird is duplicating (possibly by re-downloading) a small number of emails (between 2 and 10) in various folders and subfolders. The duplicates are nearly always quite old (several months or even years). When Thunderbird does this there are always exactly two of each duplicate (never one).

I can't tell if the problem has something to do with filters or actual redundant server downloads.

I think this problem has occurred with both Pop and Imap accounts, but I've primarily noticed it in Pop accounts.

I run: Windows 7 Pro OS Thunderbird 102.11.0 (32-bit) on: Sonic.net Internet service

This is not a huge problem but it is an irritating interruption to getting work done smoothly.

Thanks,

Eric Brooks

I had something similar happen on my Gmail account. I changed a setting regarding POP in the web interface and for weeks old email downloaded every day. Well in excess of 100,000 over time.

Then I went back to Gmail and restated the setting change and it actually stopped.
