unable to create new email account
I have been unable to install a new email account on Thunderbird. I have installed the new account on my ipad, iphone, and old Windows 7 pc. The machine I'm trying to install is a windows 10 laptop. I have tried to do the auto install and the manual install methods. After the email account information has been entered, and I try to sign in to the gmail account, I get the message: " Checking password" then "Unable to log in at server, Probably wrong configuration, username, or password". The settings that were auto entered and the ones I manually entered (same as on my windows 7 pc) both result in this error message. I am trying to migrate from my old desktop windows 7 machine to my windows 10 laptop and am changing to a new isp, so I will lose my old email address associated with my old isp. This is a very frustrating situation. No problems getting new email setup on 3 other machines, but zero luck on this windows 10 lap top.

This 'sounds like' an OAUTH2 problem. This url may be of help: https://www.supertechcrew.com/thunderbird-oauth2-gmail/
I have been using OAuth2 as authentication for incoming and smtp. I have gotten emails from google every time I have attempted to log in after the password has been checked and I get the message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password'" I have tried both manual and system information, all with the same result. I have this existing gmail account with the same credentials on my windows 7 pc, my ipad and my iphone. I'm thinking that the problem has to be related to something on my windows 10 laptop that won't allow the creation of my gmail account, but I'm clueless where to look.
Do you have an antivirus installed? they tend to be problematic. Some more so than others. Like I have never been able to configure an account with Nortons product running. I had to stop their sonar and a host of other bits like encrypted connection scanning and password vault to add an email account.
Have you checked you have not inadvertently blocked Thunderbird at Gmail?
Have you gone through the google branded (and served) request for user name, password and to allow all the bits necessary like calendars and mail etc before you have an issue? If you have I would be again looking at the antivirus, but this time the firewall component blocking connections, or the encrypted connection scanner needing you to install their self signed certificate so they can man in the middle hack your encrypted communications to scan the content.
