Am running latest version of Thunderbird on Windows ( V68.7) which is automatically deleting emails from my server once they have been downloaded and deleted on Thunderbird, and I want to keep them on my server. On previous versions of Thunderbird there was a box in server settings that you could tick letting you do this, but cant see how to do it on later version. This is really important to me, any help much appreciated, thanks.

The setting you saw before to 'leave on server' applies only to POP accounts. It appears you now have an IMAP setup, which works differently: mail is stored on the mail server, and TB synchronizes its display with the server. Any change made in TB or on the server via webmail is automatically reflected on any device, phone, laptop, desktop etc., that has the account as IMAP.

If you change back to POP, the account has to be added to TB as an existing mail account - it's not sufficient to just change the server settings of the IMAP account.

thanks sfhowes, didn't realise it had set the account up as an imap one, which it had - just assumed it was pop, so will set up new account - appreciate your help
