Lost bookmarks
Hi there, My mozilla was too slow and I clicked refresh. It took several minutes and after that my all bookmarks were GONE! How can I retrieve them? I tried doing that from bookmarks- back-up, but it said that the file could not be used.
Please help! Thanks.

Hi Porsha, I'm sorry to hear about this problem.
Just to confirm: are the bookmarks also missing if you check the three categories in the Library window? You can call that up using Ctrl+Shift+b or "Show All Bookmarks".
You can click Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, and Other Bookmarks in the left column to view their contents on the right side. Are these just standard Firefox bookmarks, not yours?
Showing the Bookmarks Toolbar
To turn different bars on and off, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:
- right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
- (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily. - in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list.
Bookmarks Menu toolbar button
You can add the optional bookmarks menu button () using either of these methods:
(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar
(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?
- Click the "Library" button:
- Click "Bookmarks"
- Click "Bookmarking Tools"
- Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
Non-restorage Backup File(s)
It's possible that there is a problem in one of Firefox's settings file, the "Places" database that stores history and bookmarks. This sometimes gets into the backups and makes them not restorable.
I have a repair tool to try to fix non-restorable bookmark backup files, or alternately to convert them to HTML format so they can be imported.

- How to import: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file
