firefox crashes while browsing have updated extensions and add-ons
over the past couple of weeks my late 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (13 inch) has crashed three times while browsing websites in Firefox. I then turn the computer back on in Safe Mode and then trash firefox and re-install it using Safari browser. Since the computer does not crash in Safe Mode I have checked my extensions and add ons and found a couple of days ago that my version of Java was out od date. I updated it but since then my computer has still crashed while browsing the web using Firefox. I have checked all of my extensions and they all seem to be up to date. I am wondering if this issue is due to an out of date graphics card as I have not update to Sierra and am stilling using Yosemite. I would appreciate any feedback on this issue. thanks.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

I got this message when I clicked on the first crash report without BP in front of the numbers/letters:
We couldn't find the Crash ID you're after. If you recently submitted this crash, it may still be in the queue.
I got this same message for the other crash reports as well.
Please try again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
While still in Safe Mode,
Now try to submit the reports.

I already did this. what happened was, I would be browsing a website and then my computer would all of a sudden crash - screen went completely black and turned itself off. There was no chance to submit a crash report for these crashes. I just updated my System Software last night to Sierra. I don't know if this will make any difference but I will see if my computer still crashes while browsing.
Ahh, so its the Computer that is crashing.
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe websites. Is the problem still there?
I did this and the problem does not persist. However I did not browse the internet for very long in Safe mode as computer ran very slow and in Firefox the graphics (font size) was HUGE!! very weird.
As a test, disable your protection programs.
already tried this the first time computer crashed. did not make any difference, computer still crashed randomly while browsing in firefox.

Does the computer give you any messages when it crashes? Do you have any system diagnostic programs you can run?
computer does not give me any messages before it crashes - screen just goes black and computer shuts down by itself. I ran both a System Diagnostic test on my computer this morning and also ran the First Aid in my Utilities to check for disk errors. Both tests reported no errors.

Are you talking about Firefox's safe mode here ? Is that still the case ? I note you talked about Firefox crashing three times in a couple of weeks. How bad that is depends on your use pattern. If you hardly ever use Firefox it may be crashing almost every time you use it whereas if you use it all of the working week then it is only very occasionally crashing.
If the problem is that it is the computer itself crashing then probably a Mac | Apple related site may be able to help you. Are the crashes only when Firefox is used ?
No I mean my computer Safe Mode. Firefox crashed twice in a week. I use my computer every day for eBay. It only crashes when I use Firefox however I don't use any other browser so don't know if Firefox is the issue here. I have posted this question on the Apple Community forum but have had no luck in getting any answers. I suspect the issue may be hardware related and not software related. Hardware related crashes are very hard to pinpoint the exact cause. I could take my computer to an Apple store to get it looked at but my warranty expired years ago (my computer is over 4 years old!) and I am sure it will be expensive to have it repaired.

The fact that the macbook runs ok in Mac s safe mode tends to indicate some sort of software issue. I do not even use a Mac and you probably stand the best chance on some Mac forum. Just from a quick web search rather than personal experience consider

I just checked my Console Log in my Utilities app and saw that Logitech Unifying Software had crashed. Seems my version was in need of an update. I updated this today - hope this was the cause of the crashes. thanks for all of your help. You're right - it wasn't a hardware issue!
