No video from Fox News ( other sites OK ) using Firefox update 50.0 even in safe mode, adverts play but not site video just a rotating circle. Latest version of Shockwave Flash and Flash Player installed. Running Windows XP SP3 IE runs fine with Firefox. On a second computer Firefox runs good with Fox News using Linux Mint. Tried the usual trouble shooting methods,Ie delete temp files, cookies even reloaded Firefox. Nothing seems to work. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, Excellent educated guess.

Hi BillyT512, A new profile might eliminate if there was a corruption in the profile as I did not see a new install mentioned in your question.

In order to create a new profile, you may have to start Fireox from the terminal or cmd. Please use the profile manager to create a new profile ro try watching a video. Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

Second, please make sure that the graphics card driver is up to date.

This is will be my reference Fix common audio and video issues to update from what we find.

Also would you check to see if   JavaScript   is enabled   (which is not the same as  'Java') :
Type in the address bar   about:config (promise to be careful) Type   'javascript' and look for   javascript.enabled Make sure it's value is set to   true

Bummer   ! But we're not going to give up;   have you checked to see if you're running the latest version of   Adobe Flash Player   ? You can do that either by clicking the maginifying glass icon and then typing 'Flash',   or going to Windows Control Panel and clicking on 'Flash Player'. It'll take you to the Settings Manager,   where you can click   'Updates'. The latest version is   23.0.0.207
(I just watched a video on Fox news:   no problems)

No problem with Firefox 38.7.1 ESR that is loaded up with extensions and has uBlock Origin to block advertising - the Skip Ad button appears and works to skip the ad. The video does play at the proper size for the "player window" and when I right-click the "player" I see a normal contextual menu that shows Flash and the FOX News Player in the contextual menu as expected.

In Firefox 49.0.1 with no extensions, I see some loss of features; the Skip Ad feature is gone and the contextual is missing, along the the "Player" being too small for the "player frame" size that the Fox News site created. But the videos do play. albeit much smaller that with the old ESR version. The "Enlarge player" and Shrink player' buttons are there, but their "value" is reduced by the smaller video sizing.

But on the current Firefox 50 with no extensions, the video plays after the Ad but the "player" is too small on the page and the contextual menu of the the page and not for the "player frame" for the "player frams". And the "Enlarge player" and Shrink player buttons / commands don't work properly.

And that's with the latest 23.0.0.207 version of Flash on Win7. So I don't think the version of Flash matters at all.

Bottom line is that there's been a slow deterioration over the last 1 1/2 years or so with how well that Fox News site videos works in Firefox. Looks like Fox has some fixing to do, or maybe dump Flash and use HTML5 for video / audio playback and join this decade.
