I am plagued with "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed". I've clicked the "Submit a crash report" button a hundred times, but nothing changes. The "Reload Page" button doesn't solve it. The crash doesn't seem to affect what I'm doing, it's just an ever-present annoyance.

AFAIK both Firefox and Adobe Flash are up to date. I tried to use the "Check Your Plugins" page (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) but it's useless; "Plugin Status" runs and runs but never finishes.

I looked at some of the technical solutions but I shouldn't have to do this. Maybe the solution is to change my default browser back to IE where this doesn't happen. (If it matters, I'm running Windows 7.)

Thank you for submitting crash reports. The developers use that data to prioritize fixes, but they don't provide personal support and anyway changes to Firefox generally take months.

Did you already try the suggestions in this article: Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again

Yes, I looked at it. When I was younger I enjoyed technical challenges when things didn't work as they should. But in my old age, I don't want to spend time tinkering, I just want it to work. I used to use IE, switched to Firefox years ago because it seemed to work better. If IE works better now, I can just switch back.

I don't know whether IE works better now. I personally avoid it as much as possible. Why not give it a try and see what you think?

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and hardware acceleration in Firefox and try this:

I have tried it. On a web site where there is plague of Adobe Flash plugin crashes using Firefox, there are none using IE. I don't know whether IE might have other problems that Firefox doesn't. I guess I'll have to make IE my default browser to find out.

Thanks for all the suggestions. As I said elsewhere, in my younger years I enjoyed the challenges of chasing software problems. In my old age, I just want it to work. If I can solve the problem by switching back to IE, that's easier than trying all your suggestions for Firefox.

I've had this same problem for ages, and have gone through all of the steps quoted here (thank you). Nothing has worked. I've been using FF since it was Netscape and would like to keep using it, but I'm on the verge of trying other browsers because of Shockwave Flash contantly crashing.

If there's any other help you can give, I'd love to hear it because I don't want to have to stop using FF. Thank you.
