Question on Firefox Version 28
Good Afternoon,
This should be an easy question as questions go.
One of my favorite cliches is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and along those lines, I have continued to use Firefox Version 28, as it works great with no issues or glitches. I have used it for many months and it continues to work great for me as of the present date.
I do know that starting with Version 29, Firefox underwent a major change - but - am I still OK using Version 28 if it still works for me? I tend to avoid updates if the old version works.
Thank you so much for your assistance:)
Randy

hello Randy, unfortunately firefox 28 is broke - security-wise.
each update contains security fixes, but by continuing to use an outdated version affected by numerous known security vulnerabilities you will put the integrity of your system and your personal data at risk!

The add-on bar was removed during the last update by Mozilla for reasons no one understands. In some cases leaving lots of icons homeless.
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for an add-on bar.
Many of us are using Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) {web link} Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).
This will restore many of the things the last upgrade took away.
Hi Phillip and FredMcD:
Thank you for your replies.
Phillip - I followed your advice and upgraded to Version 31 yesterday. Wasn't too bad at all. Glad I waited a while and did not upgrade right away to Version 29 when it first came out.
Everything seems to be fine....and now I don't have to worry about known security vulnerabilities. The changes were not nearly as bad as I thought they would be.
The top bar still says:
File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help
The ABP (Ad Block Plus) icon is now at the top of my computer screen instead of the bottom. Seems to be minor. Otherwise, everything seems to be fine.
In general...when a new version comes out...does it pay to wait a while to upgrade and not upgrade right away? Until potential bugs are ironed out?
Thanks again to both for your assistance!
Randy
Sometimes changes are made that the users don't like. Removing the add-ons bar for example. (That's why the Ad Block Plus icon was moved.) You can always wait and see the user reactions to the updates before you do your own.
