I can't access my live.com.au account
I get this message: Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop-mail.outlook.com responded: authentication failed. I tried both IMAP and POP settings.

The only other thing I can think of is that you enabled two-step verification but didn't create an app password for TB.

been to live and enabled pop access? https://blu177.mail.live.com/mail/PopEnableDisableSettings.aspx?n=2125479366
Thanks Matt, I hadn't done that, but it didn't solve the problem.
Don't know if it helps, but I'm using Wink 8.1 on Surface Pro 1.
Sorry should have been Win, not Wink. Ha.
What do you have for the server settings? They should be: SSL/TLS connection security on port 995, normal password authentication and your full email address for the user name.
Make sure there's no obsolete password by deleting it from Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords (you will be prompted to re-enter the password at the next connection), and disable antivirus programs from scanning email.
Hi sfhowes
I don't know how to disable the antivirus program from scanning email.
It is Windows Defender.
Best wishes
According to this article, item 25, WD does not scan email directly, so that is probably not an issue in your case.
thanks sfhowes for the info.
I checked/did all the other stuff: server settings: SSL/TLS connection security on port 995, normal password authentication and full email address for the user name.
No obsolete password by deleting it from Tools/Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords
but still get "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop-mail.outlook.com responded: authentication failed"

Great, thanks very much.
That worked.
