Buttons on webstites do not show, but can be found by using the tab button. I would like them to be visible when I go to a website.
When I go to a website, some buttons on the site may appear, but others are simply not visible. I can often find them by using the tab button on the keyboard, and they usually appear as an empty box, but still not as a button.

Should they be images, or ordinary text buttons?
There are several reasons that images might not be visible on a page. Did you find this article in the process of posting your question? Fix problems that cause images to not show.
If you want to post a couple of addresses and point out which buttons are the problem, we could take a quick look and see whether that provides any more insights.
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

Hi, Guys,
Thanks for the suggestions, but so far nothing positive to report.
One thing I should have mentioned was that the missing buttons were links to either new pages on the same site, or to another site, and the problem occurs on several sites that I visit, not just one or two, so it seems to me to be a Firefox setting.
Anyway, thanks again for trying to help.
Jim
Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
Screen shot for Firefox doesn't display any buttons, while the Chrome view shows the same page correctly. There are quite a number of other sites, including my Microsoft Outlook email page, that have the same problem
Hope this helps you to help me!
Thanks.
Jim
Hi Jim, it seems that background images and colors are suppressed. Couple questions:
(1) Are you allowing sites to use their own choice of colors?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content > "Colors" button > "Allow pages to choose their own colors"
(2) Does this primarily affect secure (HTTPS) sites?
